It all started with “Popsy”
When I was a young boy, my Dad and I would spend hours cooking up all sorts of food for the family on our beloved barbecue. It was a great way for a father and son to bond and it created a passion for barbecuing that has never left me.
So, when I was forced to give up my 9-5 job, I saw an opportunity to turn my dreams to reality and make barbecues my business. And so I did. I have now set up ‘The Flaming Gourmand’ – a gourmet barbecue business catering for weddings, parties and corporate events. This is no ordinary barbecue; it’s a totally different way of catering for a party. As the meat sizzles, the flames soar and the smoke drifts out of the tent. The gorgeous smells that come off the barbecue really get your guests’ tastebuds going, so they can’t wait to get stuck in. The whole theatre of it is totally unique and creates an experience they won’t forget.
Internationally inspired food
Catering for events large or small, the menus are inspired by flavours from around the world. I have even had a barbecue specially designed for me to create the Brazilian-style barbecuing known as Churrasco. (Churrasco originated in the southern region of Brazil in the 1800s, originally the cuisine of gauchos – South American cowboys. Today, it is a way of life, and deeply ingrained in Brazilian culture). I like to discuss the menus with my customers to create something that is totally bespoke and perfect for them. Whatever the occasion, whatever your taste, The Flaming Gourmand can make the catering for your party something very special.
